Count down to a future date, count up from a past one, or find the number of business days between two dates.

How this calculation works
“Days until / since” compares your target date to today and reports the gap in whole days, noting whether it's in the future or the past. “Business days” walks through every calendar day between the two dates and counts only those that fall Monday through Friday, skipping weekends — it doesn't know about public holidays, so treat it as an upper estimate where holidays fall in the range.
Worked example
If today is 1 October 2026 and your flight is on 25 December 2026, that's 85 days away (30 remaining in October, 30 in November, 25 in December).
Tips
Today counts as day zero
If you pick today's date in ‘Days until / since’, the result is 0 days — it hasn't arrived or passed yet.
Subtract public holidays yourself
The business-day count skips weekends only. Remove any public holidays in your range for a tighter figure.
A simple countdown
Use 'Days until' for launches, exams, trips or the end of a notice period.
Both directions work
Dates in the past show how many days have passed, which is useful for streaks and anniversaries.
Frequently asked questions
Does the business day count include public holidays?
No. It only excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Subtract known holidays manually if your date range includes any.
Can the target date be in the past?
Yes — the calculator will show how many days have passed since that date instead of counting down.
